This class is for women who want to feel strong, capable, and confident, both on and off the mats. Some are college students.
Whether you’re just beginning your martial arts journey or looking for a space that feels more grounded and supportive, this is where it begins Some of our students are moms.
Some simply prefer training in a women-centered environment. All women are welcome.

Our Women’s Jiu-Jitsu class was created to give you a space to grow without hesitation.

If the rest of what’s going on in your life feels too fast or too heavy, this hour is for you to focus on you.
You can attend your first class in comfortable athletic clothes, like a t-shirt and shorts or leggings. If you already have a gi, you are welcome to wear it.
If you decide to sign up to continue training, we require you to wear our team gi. It helps create consistency, teaches respect for the environment, and helps everyone feel like part of the group. We will help you get the right gear when the time comes.
No-Gi Class
For your first class, you can wear a fitted athletic shirt or rash guard and shorts or leggings without pockets.
If you decide to sign up and continue training, we require you to wear our team rash guard and shorts. This helps create consistency and keeps the mats clean and organized.
We will guide you through the gear process when the time is right.

Do I need to be in shape to start?
No, you don’t need to get fit before trying class. This program is beginner-friendly and helps you build strength, confidence, and skill over time, starting from wherever you are.
Who will I be training with?
This is a women-only class at our Fort Myers location. You’ll be training with other women in a supportive and respectful setting, led by instructors who focus on clear guidance and a comfortable pace.
Can I bring my child with me while I train?
Yes, we have quite a few students that are parents, and we designed our facility with that in mind! There’s a space where kids can hang out while you train. There are also benches near the mat and a waiting area with couches and a TV in the front lobby, so you can stay focused knowing your child is nearby.
Team Marcelo Pereira is a super welcoming place with amazing coaches. They are very supportive of adults with no experience, and their fundamentals class really is perfect for beginners. The coaches are always very encouraging, and they also take safety seriously, making sure you and your partners stay safe whole rolling. It can be intimidating starting a new sport as an adult, especially as a female, but they foster such a supportive and welcoming environment that anyone will feel at ease and be able to make friends quickly!
